The NORA Outreach Group is back from summer break and happy to announce the next meeting on Tuesday, 21st of September, 3 pm CEST/2 pm BST online.
Lilly Allen from the University of Edinburgh will be presenting her Edinburgh based project on how Oyster Restoration can help as Community Rehabilitation. As we face the intersecting threats of the 21st century, from climate change to wear on the social fabric, situating oyster restoration within both the scientific and urban planning literature affords opportunities to restore the social contexts that support viable ecologies, and vice versa. Through placemaking and community engagement ideas, Lilly explores how subtidal oyster restoration can be linked with community restoration to increase health and wellbeing in coastal communities, which will then further support restoration.
We welcome everyone to participate in open discussion following the presentation and would be interested in hearing from similar projects or those with future ideas for community linked restoration within Europe. For further information as well as the call-in details please contact Corina Peter (corina.peter@awi.de) or the NORA secretariat (secretariat@noraeurope.eu).
