My interest related to native oyster is in development and implementation of methods for upscaling oyster reef restoration to an ecologically meaningful level. I have a background in marine ecology and conservation science, and have in the past been involved in research projects in shellfish aquaculture and flatfish fisheries, and more recently in nature-inclusive design and habitat restoration projects. At Van Oord we are involved in various native oyster restoration and nature-inclusive design initiatives in the North Sea, which have led to the development of new techniques for introducing oysters and creating suitable habitat conditions.
