NORA 4 Conference
23rd – 25th November 2021
Middelburg, The Netherlands
The Native Oyster Restoration Alliance, the European network for the restoration of the native oyster Ostrea edulis, announces its 4th conference.
NORA 4 will take place as an in-person-conference in the Van der Valk Hotel (www.valkmiddelburg) in Middelburg, the Netherlands from 23rd – 25th November 2021. The conference will be free of charge.
Within the spirit of the growing NORA community, the conference will provide opportunities for knowledge exchange, joint collaboration and discussions. The programme will include a pre-conference PhD/student workshop to take place on the morning of 23rd November. The workshop is open to all students, as well as to other participants interested in joining the event as mentors to the participating students.
The in-person-conference will be mainly structured around plenary sessions.
- site selection
- oyster production
- restoration pilot results
- management and legislation.
As in NORA 3 Online, new restoration projects, results from existing projects, as well as working group progress and open calls for collaboration will be included in the programme.
The conference will conclude on the afternoon of 25th November with an excursion to the shellfish centre Yerseke, the Dutch centre for oyster production and research.
Registration is now open: register here…
The deadline for registration is: 12th November 2021
The deadline for submission of abstracts is: 15th July 2021
Participation in the conference is free, but participants must cover their own expenses, e.g. for hotel accommodation, meals and travel. More information about hotel and travel options, e.g. a shuttle service from the train station to the venue, will be shared through this website in due course.
The NORA Organising Committee is aware of the need to reduce travel and are therefore pleased to offer live streaming of all presentations through the NORA YouTube channel. We are unable to support remote presentation, or wider remote access to the conference, but by facilitating live online access to the presentations, we seek to ensure that the whole NORA community has the opportunity to engage with the cutting edge research which will be presented.
We continue to look forward to seeing many of you in person in The Netherlands in November 2021!
