We are happy to announce the next online meeting of the NORA Outreach Group taking place online on April 19th at 11 am CET. This time, Dominic McAfee will present insights into the outreach work of the oyster research projects from Southern Australia. Dominic is post doc researcher at the University of Adelaide, South Australia, and highly engaged in restoration activities for Ostrea angasi reefs.
The social and ecological success of restoring South Australia’s extinguished oyster reefs has taken everyone by surprise. Public forums, public decision-making on reef locations, and access to live restoration video streams have helped generate widespread social license for oyster reef restoration. Simultaneously, the team has been trialing boosting strategies to accelerate the restoration process, including sound technology and multi-species approaches that have enhanced recruitment processes.
As usual, there will be time for questions and discussions after the presentation.
The call-in details will be sent around before the meeting. If you’re interested in joining the Outreach group meetings, please contact Corina Peter (Corina.peter@awi.de) to be added to the mailing list. Looking forward to seeing you there!
