Fisheries Consultation on Minimum Landing Size in the Fal Fishery Area

Following an informal consultation in August 2023 and after considering the responses, members of the Cornwall Inshore Fisheries and Conservation Authority approved currently a proposal to increase the minimum landing size of European oysters from 67 mm longest length to 72 mm longest length. This proposal is now subject to a formal consultation period of 28 days, from 6 February until 4 March 2024.

We would encourage you to take part in this ’28-day Formal Consultation´ on the proposal to increase the minimum landing size of native oysters. More Information on the IFCA Consultation Website.

Chris Ranger from the Fal Fishery Cooperative explains in this video the importance of such an amendment of the minimum landing size.
