Amazing NORA 5 – Scaling up European Oyster Reef Restoration

From 6 to 8 november, a great number of NORA enthusiasts, from 13 different countries, met in Middelburg, The Netherlands. The NORA community appeared to be extremely motivated to meet in-person after two online conferences. Participants represented nature conservation organisations, scientists, restoration practitioners, the offshore sector and aquaculture entrepreneurs. During three intensive days, they had the opportunity to attend 41 full presentations and 17 speed presentations. In addition, 34 posters were presented. Almost 80 participants joined the excursion to three locations at the Yerseke shellfish hub nearby: to the Roem van Yerseke hatchery, The World of Oysters and Wageningen Marine Research.

During the closing ceremony, Raquel Yotti, secretary general of the Spanish Science Ministry, strongly encouraged the participants to continue their efforts to restore native oyster reefs.

We will check a.s.a.p. with all presenters whether it will be possible to share posters or/and presentations online. Take a look at the website from time to time or register for the NORA newsletter
